Hi. For this week's open assignment, I did nature. I had a lot of fun shooting this assignment. I spent a hour outside, walking around in the cold breeze before work. It was very calming. I went walking through the field right next to my yard, as I was walking I spotted this dandelion. I used the rule of thirds to capture it. Nature has a lot of beauty and it's really fun to capture it. It can be challenging to work with the beauty. I learned that taking it slow, is for sure the way to go. Exposure Triangle: Iso: 200 F: 4.0 Shutter 1/500 I used black and white for the "filter." I also, brightened the shadows a bit so the flower could pop a little more.

The first picture is the original picture that we were suppose to go into photoshop to learn the basics of it. It was for sure a lot different from lightroom but it's nice to know more about how to make pictures look better. The second picture is the one I "created."
Alright this assignment was another shooting assignment. I thought portrait would be the perfect one because my great grandma's celebration for her 100th birthday. Surprisingly, it was super difficult to take pictures of her since she was continuously talking and moving around. My brother also wanted to be the in the spotlight. Iso: 800 Aperture: 5.0 Shutter: 1/10 I really liked the way her scarf and earrings stick out in this picture. I played a LOT with the shadows, highlights and exposure. At first, I was tempted to leave her as a floating head, I thought it was cool. My wonderful digital photography teacher told me that maybe that wasn't the best idea and guided me into a better direction. After that, I played around with the exposure until I got this. I think it's cool how her shirt still sticks out even though all of the areas are black.
This project was to get us to learn a little bit more about photoshop. Photoshop is pretty tricky...Especially, when it's your first time using it. I really liked how we went step by step with it, it made it a bit easier. It was for sure fun to mess with the different colors. The top is obviously, the original photo.
Below, is the four pictures after being edited. This week was our very first shooting assignment. I was very excited for this since I got to take some pictures of my kitten, Dory. Dory is only around three-four months old so it was a challenge to get some goof pictures. She was running and jumping around like crazy--she also really liked the string that was on the camera. She really wanted to play with it. I learned that I had to use a fast shutter speed so that I could keep up with Dory. Some pictures did show up okay though. This was one of my favorites. Iso: 800 Aperture: 3.5 Shutter Speed: 1/80 I didn't do much editing to the photo. I kind of played around with the clarity and saturation. I wanted her nose, eyes, the ball of her collar and the pink in her ears to stick out the most. I also like darker images because I think it's easier on the eyes.
Photo one I like how cute the cats look when they're messing with catnip--they're having so much fun!!
Photo two I like how they capture the beauty of cats that are blind!! Photo three I like how cute the cat looks when it's meowing--it looks like it's smiling!! I am so excited to go and take 50 pictures of animals--well cats, really. They're so cute and being able to capture the beauty of a cat. Let's just hope I can make the pictures just as beautiful. This assignment was based off of finding these eleven elements of composition: texture, pattern, lines, depth of field, color, perspective, symmetry, rule of thirds, space, balance and framing. It was so my fellow awesome classmates and I would learn basics of the camera. It's also SUPER helpful to know what makes images more interesting to the eye. I may have taken way too many pictures, but sadly, we only had to turn in one for each element. I loved this assignment, truly. I spent so much of my free time trying to get "creative," I spent at LEAST an hour (after taking fifty pictures at school) taking at least ninety-six more. Besides, learning the basics of using the camera, it gave me time to explore what it's like to do another form of art. I also have learned more about the time and thought it takes to make a good image. I believe that everyone can be a good photographer if they take time and be bold by trying new techniques as well as different angles for a picture. It was also a nice excuse to take a lot of pictures of my cats, that was my favorite part.
Welcome! Thanks for taking the time to glance at my blog. Here's a little bit about me: I LOVE cats, I'm sure you'll see a million pictures of cats on here, sorry. I love singing, I've been singing since I was little, I do an a capella group before school, a show choir after school, the musical during the year and I'm in Chamber Choir. I'm also super interested in special education--I love being around kids.
